Three Objectives:
- Introduce the Whittier Watershed Council
- Education on issues and concerns
- Receiving public input
The Evening
6:30 Introduction of the WWC voting and non-voting membership (30-40 min)
- Post WWC mission statement on the wall. Membership takes 3-5 minutes explaining why the council has been formed and a piece of how it functions (i.e. decision making method, mission statement, bylaw development comment, watershed area encompassed, etc.)
7:15 Presentations of Watershed Council projects and other technical information (40-45 min)
- What is a watershed plan - Meg Muller
- U.S. Forest Service PWS project - Aaron Poe
- Maps – landownership, watershed boundaries, land use areas - Mike Fretwell
- Water Data – hydrology, water supply, drinking water quality - ARWA
- Fish and Wildlife around Shakespeare Creek
- PWS Resource Advisory council projects
- Update regarding Corps of Engineers Project in Whittier - Bruce Sexauer
- Levee – Bank Erosion presentation and report Whittier City Manager - John Janik
- Contaminates and Community clean up - Councilman Shannon Tolman
- Kenai Watershed Council - Michelle Marten
8:00 Break (15-20 min)
8:20 Discuss results of the activities (40 min)
- Ask for comments/observations
- Open up discussion to any questions
